Amblyopia (lazy eye), Diplopia (double vision), and Strabismus (cross-eyed, wandering eye, eye turns, etc.)
Amblyopia exists when an eye is unable to be corrected to normal visual acuity with lenses. The earlier a patient is treated for amblyopia, the better the prognosis, but it is now known from scientific research that older children and even adults can often be helped with active vision therapy.

Optometric Vision Therapy for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Whiplash injuries
Many people suffer visual disturbances after head or whiplash type injuries. (Post –Traumatic Vision Syndrome) Even patients with mild TBI can experience symptoms that can vary from mildly irritating to completely disabling. Frequently they can persist for many years causing major interference with an individual's functional vision. The cause of these disturbances may be so subtle that the damage cannot be detected even with sensitive diagnostic techniques such as CAT scan or MRI. However, these patients will often demonstrate constricted near point kinetic visual fields, which can be measured in a detailed vision therapy exam.

Sports Vision
Every athlete no matter what the sport depends on his or her eyes for success. The eyes guide the body whether one is skiing down a steep slope, hitting a tennis ball, catching a football, or sinking a free throw. Vision therapy maximizes the efficiency of the visual system. Even Olympic and professional athletes have found that they can get the extra edge with vision therapy. Children often experience clumsiness or lack of proficiency in athletics, which effects their enjoyment of physical activity. Through vision therapy, they can experience improvements in hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision, tracking and teaming skills, etc. which can effect dramatic improvements in athletic ability and corresponding self-image.

Optometric Phototherapy (Color Therapy)
A unique facet of Dr. Harpur's vision therapy practice consists of using colored light treatments in conjunction with traditional vision therapy techniques to increase the effectiveness of the therapy. Many children with Learning-Related Visual Problems, binocular vision, or stress-related visual problems will have constricted or distorted functional visual fields induced by the stressful near visual demands of schoolwork.
Athletes of all ages, and Traumatic Brain Injury patients may also have constricted visual fields related to visual deficiencies or trauma. Almost all of these patients will respond to light therapy. The peripheral vision system guides central vision and integrates visual input with the vestibular, the proprioceptive and auditory systems. As the peripheral visual fields open up with phototherapy, the patient's visual system will respond more quickly to standard vision therapy techniques and symptoms will be relieved sooner.
