Dr. Mashouf graduated from UCSD in 1992 with a B.A. in Chemistry. After a year in the bio-tech industry developing blood gas sensors, he decided to return to school and earned his doctorate from UC Berkeley in Optometry. Upon graduation Dr. Mashouf bought a private practice in the Napa Valley where he stayed for the six years. In 2003 he relocated back to San Diego and became a partner at Scripps Poway Eyecare, reuniting with his UC Berkeley classmate, Dr. Wan. Dr. Mashouf's areas of interest include refractive surgery, the management of eye disease, the fitting of specialty contact lenses, and sports vision. In addition to his work with the Scripps Optometric Group, Dr. Mashouf also finds time to work at one of the premier LASIK centers in San Diego where he consults with patients about the benefits of laser eye surgery. Dr. Mashouf is also one of the team eye doctors for the San Diego Chargers and has worked with a number of the players and coaches with their vision care over the past three seasons. San Diego Magazine recently named him one of San Diego's Top Doctors for 2006, the second consecutive year he has been so honored. Dr. Mashouf resides in Rancho Penasquitos with his wife and two young sons.
